If you live in London and you want to try out an electric battery powered Powabyke and get a free two hour ‘Smart Cycling’ safety course then go to a Nip Nip dealer. They are running a unique course for cyclists in London in response to the new bike infrastructure and the increase in novice cyclists turning to pedal – and electric – power for crossing the city.
David Farr, Director of Nip Nip said of his initiative: “Here in London cycling numbers are booming. With that the number of accidents and fatalities occurring on bikes increases. Our point is that Barclays have put 25 million pounds into cycling infrastructure and have done a great job boosting cycling numbers but have not put a penny into schemes for cyclists’ safety. What we have is unique and is a first. There is nothing like this in London. Nobody else offers cycle training to their customers.”
The fact that Nip Nip are combining test rides for Powabyke’s electric bicycles with the two hour safety course means a potential customer can get to thoroughly try out the bike whilst gaining an education on cycling safety strategies at the same time.
Marketing Manager for Powabyke, Richard Forsyth, commented on the scheme and what it will mean for those who might be interested in purchasing a Powabyke: “I am constantly saying if you want to know what electric bikes are all about you really need to get on one and try it out, and then it will become obvious! The fact you can get lessons on surviving the London traffic at the same time is a touch of genius. This is a really generous offer.”
David Farr explains further: “Anyone who wants to take a Powabyke out can do so and test ride it with us on a two hour syllabus which will make them aware of their cycling environment and show them how to master it. The syllabus is designed for cyclists of all levels and will iron out bad habits whilst teaching new methods. We will show you how to manage other road users like HGVs which have notoriously been a big problem for cycle users and we will take you to a lot of London ‘hotspots’ like London Bridge and the Barbican roundabout to learn how to get about in the best way. In London the dangers to cyclists presents a major problem. Accidents are making a lot of headlines. Although this course is for all bikes, if someone wants to trial a Powabyke they can do it for free for the two hours.”
The course runs for the last week of every month.
