A local electric bike shop is organizing an electric bike rally for 1st December in Lancing.
The Cycle Station who are based in Lancing is holding the “Blue Bits Rally” for electric bikes and mobility vehicles on Friday 1st December. Starting at The Farmers Pub on South Street at 6.30pm, the rally will ride to Worthing Pier before returning to the Farmers for a free live band and other entertainment.
The organizers hope that the rally will help to raise awareness of electric vehicles, giving people the chance to see and try them. Models will include Powabyke’s electric “Tryke”, “Commuter” and “Shopper”.
Helen Plummer, Marketing Manager at Powabyke said, “We are really pleased that one of our dealers is organizing the Blue Bits Rally. We hope that the event will be a great deal of fun for everyone whilst also giving people the chance to see electric vehicles in action. Electric vehicles are an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional vehicles, that don’t cost the earth – literally!”
Spectators and visitors are advised to dress up warm and everyone is welcome to join in the rally or at the event afterwards.
Jon Hyder from the Cycle Station said, “Many people are interested in converting to electric vehicles so we wanted to organize an event to enable people to learn a bit more about them. They are an excellent way to commute, easy to park and better for the environment. We hope that lots of people will come along – but don’t forget to dress up warm – hence the “Blue Bits Rally”!”.
Powabyke has enjoyed global success with over 25,000 bikes sold, and is proving to be a hit all over the UK. Featured in many publications and media, including the Sunday Times and the Paul O’Grady Show, Powabyke has grown from strength to strength since its launch in 1999 and a quarter of it’s sales now come from overseas.
Supporting the move towards efficient and greener transport, the electric Powabyke has been designed to give all the benefits of traditional cycling without the effort. They consume no petrol or diesel, produce no emissions, require no insurance, tax, license, MOT or fare paying. They are congestion charge exempt and can be driven in bus and cycle lanes. Recharging is simple, the battery can be plugged into any domestic main plug socket.
A battery driven 200w electric motor powers the bike with a handlebar mounted throttle, so the rider can add as much or as little assistance as required. With a top speed of 15mph and a generous range of about 20 miles per single charge, Powabyke is a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to a car.
The full range of Powabykes includes folding bikes, mountain bikes, shopper bikes and even a three-wheeled trike which all qualify for the government’s salary sacrifice scheme. Powabyke’s range also include their Powascoot electric scooters. For more information visit www.Powabyke.com or call (01225) 443737
