With many towns and cities suffering from their fair share of air pollution and parking problems, innovative international company Powabyke Ltd. are encouraging people to take action now and seriously consider a cleaner and greener alternative.
Managing Director Nick Child believes the range of Powascooters and Powabykes offer an easy, green and viable solution for many urban motorists, and being cheap to run and free to park, are also easy on the pocket.
Nick Child commented, “I think everyone wants to do their bit to help ease the problems in terms of air and noise pollution as well as the parking nightmare, but not many people are aware of the alternatives that are available. Electric scooters and bikes give riders many benefits, and for towns and cities they are ideal – there are no exhaust fumes, they’re quiet and relaxing to ride and they don’t cost the earth – literally!”
“We should also remember that they are free to park - imagine that, a ticket-free future!”
With fuel prices now well over £1 a litre at most filling stations, the electric scooter alternative is a much more cost effective way for people to get around. A full charge to a Powascooter will give the rider a range of 20-25 miles, costing just 8p a time – equivalent to over 1,000mpg. The vehicles are also road tax exempt and you don’t need a license to drive one if your car license was issued before February 2001.
Powabyke's purpose-designed electric bikes offer all the benefits of traditional cycling and have sold in their thousands, transforming the lives of people looking for an inexpensive, reliable and carefree way of getting from A to B. The running cost is incredibly low: about 1.5 pence per mile. With a range of around 20 miles per charge and a regulated top speed of 15mph. Powabykes can be used without any form of license, and parking is free!
A survey of electric bicycle and scooter users by Leeds University and Powabyke presents a positive outlook for the future of the electric vehicles. The survey shows that owners of electric bikes are actually using them to replace car journeys, commuting to work and everyday journeys. The average user covers an average of 1,200 miles per annum, compared to the average of 120 miles that a non-electric bike does. Some users even replaced their second car with an electric bike! A summary of the report can be found in the download section of the Powabyke website. |
