A Wandsworth firm has opened what could be the first shop in London to specialise in bicycles that run on electricity.
The Electric Bicycles Centre, Pleiades, in West Hill, regards the bikes, which travel up to 15 miles per hour without fuel, as a 'pollution solution' for south London commuters.
Centre proprietor Jack Kubis said: "Our electric bicycles are great fun and no matter what age or level of physical fitness, anyone and everyone can now enjoy the benefits of travelling on two wheels."
"The bikes do not need road tax and can be ridden without a licence, costing nothing to park." The bikes retail from £535 and are effortless to pedal. They can also be used like an ordinary bike.
