B&NES Business People Told - On Yer Bike!
Powabyke Ltd will be supporting national Bike Week which takes place from 11th-19th June, by encouraging local business people to commute into work on their bikes.
Powabyke is an international company, based in Bath and is targeting workers in B&NES to help ease congestion and lower exhaust emissions in the city. They are offering interested commuters the chance to use a Powabyke for free during Bike Week.
But not only will Powabyke be encouraging local business people to leave their cars at home between Monday 13th of June and Friday 17th, if they like what they try, they have the option to buy! AT HALF PRICE!
Nick Child, Managing Director of Powabyke Ltd said, “We are trying to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and get onto bikes. We are providing a week’s free trial with a Powabyke, with the incentive of offering riders the opportunity to then buy their Powabyke for half its retail price, or return it to us”.
Mr Child added, “ For those who need some encouragement to cycle, or feel there are barriers to participation, a battery assisted Powabyke is the perfect solution. The option to be propelled solely by a Powabyke’s battery, or completely under your own steam, makes this product a highly flexible option as the rider can add as much or as little effort as required.”
Riders taking part in the challenge will be able to collect their Powabyke from their offices in Wood Street at 8.30am on Monday 13th June, returning them at 5.30pm on Friday 17th. Anyone interested should contact the Powabyke team on (01225) 443737 by mid-day on Thursday 9th June to register, so that their bike can be arranged.
Local businessman Robert Vander Woerd from Mallorys has already been converted to the advantages of using a Powabyke, he said, “The Powabyke is fun to use and a pleasure. It is ideal for commuting within the local area, and I would highly recommend it. Powabykes are environmentally friendly and can help to ease congestion. Its perfect for short journeys where you can get your bike out and off you go, rather than starting up the car and polluting the atmosphere.”
Powabyke has enjoyed global success with over 20,000 bikes sold a year, and is proving to be a hit all over the UK. Featured in many publications and media, including the Sunday Times and the Paul O’Grady Show, Powabyke has grown from strength to strength since its launch in 1999 and a quarter of it’s sales now come from overseas.
Supporting the move towards efficient and greener transport, the electric Powabyke has been designed to give all the benefits of traditional cycling without the effort.
It consumes no petrol or diesel, produces no emissions, requires no insurance, tax, license, MOT or fare paying. It is congestion charge exempt and can be driven in bus and cycle lanes. Recharging is simple, the battery can be plugged into any domestic main plug socket.
A battery driven 200w electric motor powers the bike with a handlebar mounted throttle, so the rider can add as much or as little assistance as required. With a top speed of 15mph and a generous range of about 20 miles per single charge, Powabyke is a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to a car.
It’s quite astonishing how much can be saved on trains, buses or even parking! With expensive parking charges being introduced around many British cities there really hasn’t been a better time for a Powabyke. The full range of Powabykes normally cost between £539 - £895 and include folding bikes, mountain bikes, shopper bikes and even a three-wheeled trike.
